A Doll’s House, and others… – Henrik Ibsen

Having secretly borrowed money, in dubious circumstances, to finance the trip abroad which saved her husband’s life, Nora Helmer is being blackmailed. She must dissuade her husband from sacking the corrupt money-lender Krogstad, or he will reveal his past associations with Helmer, ruining both his reputation and his career. Terrified and desperate, Nora readies herself for Helmer’s discovery of the truth.

Ibsen’s masterly handling of the highly-charged situations in ‘A Doll’s house’ is also displayed in the two other plays in this volume – ‘The Lady from the Sea’, centered on a married woman’s infatuation with a mysterious stranger, and ‘The Wild Duck’, a compelling plea for compromise in all things.
